The Artist's Garden After Modernism
US, New York
This show has been mentionned before on Free Soil, but the catalogue is a remarkable book in its own right. There is little published on contemporary artists gardens, or gardening in an art context. The book has new commissionned projects and documentation of recent gardens by Joseph Kosuth and hard to find material on for example Matta-Clarks floating gardens and Fischli Weiss' garden for Münster. Also you'll find essays and interviews with among others Alan Sonfist. The book continues a legacy from the Queens Museum of Art who previously published "Fragile Ecologies"

Projects

nolvadex

The project intersects with recent public debate in Copenhagen about air pollution in the city. In collaboration with Senior Scientist Jørgen Brandt from The National Environmental Research Institute in Denmark a first prototype is developed for making an indicator that can be placed in the city and display local levels of pollution as well as pollution forecasts on individual streets. The project holds an open source script for displaying data from the Internet in a variety of forms.
